If you have no intention to register the domain name, you shouldn't do this with Network Solutions which is well known for domain front running.
Swore I would never say this on a blog, but... Good first post Mathias.
Certainly worth reinforcing last two comments, however its probably worth highlighting the useful of such tactics is only part of the overall SEO strategy, however as you have said, it can be useful in dominating strategic terms if used properly (and with a bit of luck as well - in terms of domain availability obviously)
Very good post. Did learn a lot from it.
Fabulous post - thanks for summarizing it in such a useful fashion.
It's always amazing how many good domains are still available out there. As difficult as it seems, your blog post shows that we're still not anywhere near being in a saturated market.
Lead Generation Consulting has been doing this for years...we own and operate 5000 microsites online and growing...
Every client we do this work for becomes a case study. Minimum implemenatation is 400 microsites based on the above methodology and some proprietary techniques and trade secrets.

The trick is figuring out what to do with the 100s of domains I've bought doing this.
I am learning how to utilize the Google keyword tool for more than just planning posts and articles...I am utilizing it now for domain names. Thanks for the clarity in this issue.
Well that's an interesting guide
This is pretty much how i found one of my domains containing the SEO keyword
Nice one. Have you checked out SEOMoz's domain name spam tool? It's still under construction I believe, but interesting as an idea:
excellent, it is nice to read some proper 'insider' knowledge, thanks

Finally a real blog that isn't scared to give away real techniques. A little on-topic allinurl relevance never hurt anyone to cut the time to the top 10 down to a fragment vs. a non relevant URL.
Who knows how long this metric will survive, but keyword rich or keyword relevant domains are still a force to be reckoned with (no tens inpunded on "the force" analogy).
